The theme most recently in my coaching sessions and groups has been around the fear of uncertainty and change. I’ve been meditating on this a lot and will share what keeps coming forward for me.
It is not the changes that we fear, but the FEAR itself. When you think about the word UNCERTAINTY, it indicates the unknown. When something isn’t known, it is feared. So when we are having a hard time with change or uncertainty, just know that the the FEAR is not telling you that it will be a bad change or that bad things are coming. The FEAR is saying, “Hey, I’m afraid, because I do not know what to expect or what will happen.”
The mind loves to be in control and when it isn’t because it is in a space of the unknown, it gets agitated and overwhelmed.
So during this big season of change in our world, I have done a few daily modifications to help me. STILLNESS has been my best medicine. Focusing on presence with my day to day interactions. Instead of a 10-minute meditation, I do a 25-30 minute meditation each morning and add another in the afternoon. Instead of two cups of coffee, I do one. Instead of skipping that workout cause I’m tired, I hop on the treadmill for 20-30 to release that emotional fear in the body.
I also highly recommend daily connection with a friend or a nice chat with a stranger. I also love pattern interrupts. Getting outside for 20 minutes to walk the dog, breathe in nature and remember that there is something bigger than you that is guiding you to a better place always!
